What? Sage Preaching & Teaching Applied: Wrestling Together with Divine Violence in the Old Testament

Who? Anyone who preaches or teaches the Bible, or who is looking to better understand violence and violent passages in the Old Testament

Cost? $35 recommended donation, or pay what you’re able. We don’t want cost to be a deterrent. Nobody is required to pay to attend. Registration includes a free e-book that will be sent via email post-event.

  • Dr. David Chapman

    David is Professor of New Testament and Archaeology at Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis. In addition to leading study tours to Israel, directing the Abila Archaeological Excavation (in northern Jordan) from 2004 to 2008, and publishing several NT commentaries, David served as the NT editor (and contributor) for the ESV Archaeology Study Bible, and has authored Ancient Jewish and Christian Perceptions of Crucifixion (2008); and co-authored The Trial and Crucifixion of Jesus: Texts and Commentary (2015).

  • Dr. Zack Eswine

    Zack is the lead pastor of Riverside Church, Webster Groves, MO, and co-founder with his wife, Jessica Eswine, of Sage Christianity.  Zack is a well-regarded preacher, teacher, seminary professor, and the author of numerous volumes, including the newly available Wiser With Jesus (Christian Focus, 2025)

  • Vicki Tatko

    Vicki is a Visiting Instructor in Biblical Languages at Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis, and a regular teacher for the St. Louis Young Adults Bible Study Fellowship. An accomplished exegete and emerging OT scholar with a growing body of published articles and reviews, Vicki is currently completing her Ph.D. at Trinity College, Bristol (UK).
